Job Title: School Cover Manager
Location: Secondary School, Chalfont
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 FTE (depending on experience)
Contract: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full-time, term-time plus inset days (exact pattern to be confirmed)
About the RoleWe are seeking an organised, proactive, and resilient Cover Manager to join our busy secondary school in Chalfont. This is a key role within the school, responsible for the daily organisation and management of staff cover, ensuring the smooth running of lessons in the absence of teaching staff.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning by coordinating cover arrangements efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities*Manage daily staff absence and arrange appropriate cover
*Allocate internal cover and liaise with external supply agencies as required
*Communicate cover arrangements clearly to staff and senior leaders
*Maintain accurate records of staff absence and cover usage
*Support line managers with absence data and reporting
*Work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure continuity of learning
*Respond calmly and effectively to last-minute changes and pressures
The Ideal Candidate Will Have*Excellent organisational and time-management skills
*Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
*The ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment
*High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
*Confidence using IT systems (school MIS experience desirable but not essential)
*Previous experience in a school environment or similar administrative role (desirable)
