Job Title: Children and Young People Practitioner
Location: Coventry
Salary: £12,602
Contract: 12-month fixed-term / Part-time
Hours: 18.5 hours per week
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Children and Young People Practitioner to support children and young adults affected by domestic abuse. This role involves managing a caseload, providing direct support, developing projects, and collaborating with partner agencies to deliver inclusive, culturally sensitive services.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide tailored support to children and young people affected by domestic abuse.
*Manage caseloads, carry out risk assessments, and develop safety plans.
*Work within safeguarding frameworks for children and vulnerable adults.
*Develop and deliver community-based projects with input from children and young people.
*Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and organisational policies.
*Contribute to service development, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
*Empower children, young people, and families to build resilience, confidence, and independence.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
*Degree or professional qualification in social work, health, education, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
*Minimum 3 years’ experience supporting diverse communities and/or survivors of domestic abuse.
*Experience in social care, welfare, or safeguarding children and young people.
Skills and Competencies
*Ability to work safely with vulnerable people, including risk assessment, safety planning, and maintaining confidentiality.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written. Additional community language skills are desirable.
*Ability to manage complex caseloads, prioritise effectively, and work independently.
*Strong IT, administrative, and report-writing skills.
*Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends.
Knowledge and Understanding
*Awareness of issues affecting children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.
*Knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding frameworks.
*Understanding of the impact of race, ethnicity, gender, and other forms of inequality on service users.
Additional Requirements
*Clear Enhanced DBS check.
*Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
*First Aid training or willingness to undertake.
