Job Description:
We are working with a highly regarded commercial nursery operation supplying high-quality plants across multiple Clients. The business is known for its strong growing standards, professional culture, and commitment to plant health, biosecurity, and operational excellence.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Nursery Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and performance of the nursery site. This is a senior, hands-on management role requiring strong people leadership, excellent crop knowledge, and the ability to run a safe, efficient, and well-organised nursery operation.
Job Description:
The Nursery Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day management of the nursery. This includes leading and developing teams, maintaining exceptional crop quality, ensuring full compliance with plant health and biosecurity standards, and delivering efficient, professional nursery operations.
Working closely with the Production Manager, the Nursery Manager will plan and oversee production activity, manage resources, and ensure the site consistently meets company standards for quality, safety, and customer service.
Key responsibilities include
*Lead, motivate and manage nursery teams, planning labour and setting clear daily priorities.
*Ensure all crops are grown, maintained and presented to the highest standards.
*Monitor plant health, irrigation, nutrition, pests and diseases, implementing ICM/IPM practices
*Work with the Production Manager on crop planning, space utilisation and seasonal programmes
*Maintain strong standards of plant health, biosecurity and regulatory compliance
*Promote a safe, tidy and compliant working environment in line with Health & Safety.
*Maintain accurate stock, crop and labour records using company systems
*Drive continuous improvement, staff development and operational efficiency
*Participate in an agreed out-of-hours rota to ensure continuity of plant care
*Undertake other reasonable duties to support smooth nursery operations
