Job Title: Tutor for SEN & Alternative Provision Students
Location: Flexible (In-person / Community-based / Home tuition)
Hours: Part-time / Flexible
Pay: Competitive, based on experience
About the Role
We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated tutors to work with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or have been excluded or disengaged from mainstream education. Many of our learners require a patient, trauma-informed approach and benefit from 1:1 or small-group tuition tailored to their individual needs.
This role is ideal for someone who believes in second chances and is committed to helping young people rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging, personalised tuition sessions (1:1 or small group)

* Adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learning needs

* Support students with emotional regulation, confidence, and motivation

* Work in line with EHCPs, behaviour plans, and individual learning plans

* Maintain clear session records and provide feedback on progress

* Build positive, trusting relationships with students and families

Who We’re Looking For
* Experience working with SEN students and/or students excluded from school

* Calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour and learning

* Strong communication and relationship-building skills

* Ability to adapt lessons creatively and flexibly

* Understanding of trauma-informed or restorative practice (desirable)

Essential Requirements
* Relevant tutoring, teaching, youth work, or SEN experience

* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

* Right to work in the UK

* Reliability and professionalism

Desirable (but not essential)
* Teaching qualification or SEN-specific training

* Experience in alternative provision, PRUs, or SEMH settings

* Knowledge of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or anxiety-related needs
