Contract Commercial Lead (Local Authority)Location: Victoria, London
Working Pattern: Hybrid – minimum 3 days per week on-site
Rate: £650 per day
Contract Length: 6+ months (ongoing)
The OpportunityA major London local authority council is seeking an experienced Contract Commercial Lead to support a high-profile transformation programme focused on becoming a modern, inclusive, resident-led organisation.
This is a senior interim role with real influence, sitting at the heart of commercial improvement and contract performance across a varied and complex portfolio. You’ll play a key role in strengthening commercial governance, optimising supplier relationships, and driving measurable value for money.
The role is hybrid, requiring regular on-site presence in central London. Fully remote working is not available.
Key Responsibilities*Lead commercial optimisation and contract management improvements across a diverse portfolio
*Drive best-practice commercial and supplier management approaches
*Identify efficiencies and support cost control while maintaining service quality
*Work collaboratively with Procurement & Commercial Services, Finance, Legal, and operational teams
*Strengthen governance, reporting, and commercial decision-making
*Support organisational resilience through improved commercial capability
Key ObjectivesThe role aligns to three core programme objectives:
*Re-imagining: Innovating commercial practices and supplier partnerships to deliver locally tailored, impactful solutions
*Strengthening: Embedding commercial excellence, improving governance, and supporting sustainable delivery
*Optimisation: Ensuring effective use of resources, improving cost efficiency, and maintaining financial sustainability
About You*Strong background in contract management and commercial leadership within the public sector (local authority experience highly desirable)
*Proven ability to operate in complex stakeholder environments
*Commercially astute, delivery-focused, and confident driving change
*Comfortable working at pace in an interim, transformation-led setting
