Microsoft Exchange Consultant
Global Bank | 12 Month Contract | Inside IR35
Location: South London or Chester (Hybrid)
Our Client, a leading global financial institution is looking for an experienced Microsoft Exchange Operations Engineer to join their Messaging Services team. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a highly available and resilient Exchange environment supporting a large enterprise user base.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for the operational stability, performance, and health of the organisation’s Microsoft Exchange platform, working within a team that supports one of the largest messaging infrastructures globally. The successful engineer will contribute to incident management, change control, documentation, automation, and continuous service improvement.
Key Responsibilities
*Day-to-day operational support of Exchange 2016+ environments, including multi-node DAGs and clustering across multiple datacentres.
*Troubleshooting end-to-end mail flow issues, identifying root cause, and driving permanent fixes.
*Implementing changes through formal change management processes.
*Monitoring and maintaining service health using SCOM and related tooling.
*Producing operational documentation, runbooks, and contributing to internal knowledge bases.
*Collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the business.
*Supporting hybrid Exchange / Microsoft 365 environments.
*PowerShell scripting and automation to optimise operational tasks.
Required Experience
*5-10+ years working with Microsoft Exchange 2016 or newer in large, complex environments.
*Hands-on experience with multi-node DAGs, clustering, and highly-available Exchange solutions.
*Strong troubleshooting expertise within enterprise-scale messaging environments.
*Experience with SCOM monitoring and on-call operational support.
*Strong communication skills, able to work with clients, LOBs, and technical teams.
*Experience with Exchange Online / Microsoft 365.
*PowerShell scripting for automation.
*Ability to work independently and deliver consistent, high-quality operational output.
