Location: Civic Campus, Swindon (Onsite)
Hours: 37 per week

*PAYE: £34.33 per hour
*Umbrella/Ltd: £46.21 per hour
The RoleRibble Recruitment is assisting a local authority in the South West to recruit an experienced Senior Domestic Abuse Officer to join a well-established Family Safeguarding service within Children’s Services.
This is a senior, non-qualified social care role with a strong leadership and safeguarding focus. You will work within a multi-disciplinary Family Safeguarding team, supporting children and families affected by domestic abuse, mental health challenges, and substance misuse. The service takes a whole-family, strengths-based approach, using Motivational Interviewing to drive sustainable change and improve outcomes for children.
Key ResponsibilitiesService & Operational Leadership
*Lead and manage domestic abuse staff delivering safeguarding services aligned to statutory and local requirements
*Contribute to service planning, performance improvement, and operational change
*Ensure service delivery meets agreed outcomes, quality standards, and performance targets
Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
*Build and maintain effective partnerships with children’s safeguarding teams and external agencies
*Represent the service positively at multi-agency forums and professional meetings
*Support and deliver training to partner organisations where appropriate
Risk Management & Safeguarding
*Oversee high-risk domestic abuse and safeguarding cases
*Maintain an up-to-date understanding of dynamic risk
*Ensure appropriate escalation through MARAC, MAPPA, and safeguarding pathways
*Embed robust risk management and quality assurance processes
People Management
*Line manage, supervise, and develop operational staff
*Support performance management, supervision, appraisals, and staff development
*Contribute to recruitment, induction, and ongoing workforce development
Quality, Governance & Compliance
*Lead on continuous improvement and quality assurance activity
*Ensure confidentiality, data security, and compliance with policies and procedures
*Contribute to inspections, audits, and service evaluations
Essential Requirements*Significant experience managing domestic abuse and safeguarding risk, particularly involving children
*Proven experience leading and managing staff in a safeguarding or probation-related environment
*Strong understanding of multi-agency working within children’s safeguarding
*Ability to manage high-risk cases and make sound professional judgements
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Strong commitment to equality, diversity, and ethical practice
Desirable*Relevant probation or safeguarding-related qualification
*Experience contributing to service improvement, inspections, or audits
*Experience using data to inform service delivery and performance improvement
