Role OverviewWe are delighted to be recruiting an inspiring and experienced Room Leader to join our high-quality early years setting in Harrow. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident practitioner who is passionate about early childhood education and ready to lead a room with professionalism, warmth, and vision.
As a Room Leader, you will take ownership of your room, guide and motivate your team, and ensure every child receives outstanding care and learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Key Responsibilities*Lead the day-to-day running of the room, ensuring high standards at all times
*Inspire, mentor, and support a team of practitioners to deliver outstanding practice
*Plan, implement, and evaluate creative, child-led learning experiences
*Act as a Key Person, supporting children’s individual learning and development
*Oversee observations, assessments, and learning journals, ensuring quality and consistency
*Promote children’s wellbeing, independence, and positive behaviour
*Ensure full compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and nursery policies
*Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers
*Work closely with the management team to support continuous improvement
Person Specification*Level 3 qualification in Early Years (or above)
*Minimum 3 years’ experience in an early years setting
*Previous experience as a Room Leader or Senior Practitioner
*Excellent knowledge of the EYFS framework
*Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
*A warm, professional, and proactive approach
*Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable Skills*Paediatric First Aid qualification
*Experience supporting SEND and inclusive practice
*Confidence using nursery management systems (e.g. Tapestry, Famly)
*Experience supporting staff development and supervision
