Job Description:
Part-Time Senior Bookkeeper – 3 days per week
Salary: £38,000 - £43,000 per annum (pro-rata)
Location: Central London - Hybrid – minimum 1 day per week in London
Overview
We are supporting a growing specialist Consultancy operating within the life sciences sector who deliver strategic and operational support to a diverse client base.
An opportunity has arisen for a highly capable Senior Bookkeeper to manage core financial activities and contribute to the effective operation of the finance function. The role will suit someone with strong hands-on bookkeeping expertise, confidence across VAT and month-end activities as well as
Key Responsibilities
*Day-to-Day Bookkeeping: Bank journals and reconciliations, invoicing, supplier payments, expenses, and payroll journal support.
*Month-End & Reporting: Month-end close, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, journals, and support for management reporting and project profitability.
*Accounts Receivable & Credit Control: Invoice queries, payment chasing, and AR ageing.
*Accounts Payable: Supplier invoice processing, payment runs, and supplier statement reconciliations.
*Tax & Compliance: Preparation and submission of VAT returns; maintaining audit-ready financial records.
*International Coordination: Liaison with European accountants on statutory, payroll, VAT/TVA, and month-end matters.
Candidate Profile
*Proven experience in a Senior Bookkeeper or advanced bookkeeping role.
*Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and month-end processes.
*Experience with VAT returns, reconciliations, and journal postings.
*Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
*Experience with invoicing, expenses, AP/AR, and cashbook entries.
*Strong communication skills, including with international teams.
*Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
*Proficiency with Xero.
*Ideally gained experience with multi-country accounting.
*Background in project accounting or consulting/professional services will be beneficial.
*Knowledge of payroll processes and statutory updates
