We’re recruiting an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead safety performance across multiple sites throughout Cumbria for a long standing client. This is a hands-on, operational role in a high-risk, regulated environment, working closely with site leadership to drive compliance, reduce risk and embed a strong safety culture.
The Role
*Provide visible H&S leadership across all operations.
*Act as the primary health & safety advisor to senior leaders and site managers.
*Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation and sector-specific regulations.
*Lead risk assessments.
*Investigate incidents and near misses, ensuring robust corrective actions.
*Deliver site inspections, audits and performance reporting.
*Identify training needs and deliver or coordinate health & safety training across sites.
*Support site teams with toolbox talks, safety briefings and behavioural safety initiatives.
*Coach and mentor managers and supervisors to strengthen safety leadership capability.
*Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce incidents, improve compliance and raise safety standards.
*Share best practice across sites and promote consistent standards throughout the region.
About You
*Proven H&S management experience in utilities, construction, manufacturing or heavy industry.
*Strong working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation.
*Experience covering multiple operational sites.
*NEBOSH General Certificate (essential).
*Confident, pragmatic and operationally credible.
*Strong communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
*Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
*NEBOSH Diploma or working towards.
*IOSH Chartered / Graduate membership.
*ISO 45001 experience.
