Community Safety Officer (Patrolling) – InterimLocation: Civic Campus (Swindon) – onsite
Duration: 17 weeks
Start Date: 30 January 2026
Hours: 40 hours per week (including evenings and weekends)
Rates:
*PAYE: £18.85 per hour
*Umbrella/Ltd: £25.21 per hour
The RoleRibble Recruitment is assisting a local authority in the appointment of Interim Community Safety Officers (Patrolling) to support frontline community safety services while permanent recruitment is underway.
This is a highly visible, public-facing role focused on patrol, engagement, enforcement, and partnership working to reduce anti-social behaviour, environmental crime, and community safety concerns across the borough.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatrolling & Visibility
*Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols across neighbourhoods, parks, town centres, and priority locations
*Provide a visible and reassuring presence to deter anti-social behaviour and nuisance activity
*Identify and report emerging issues and community safety hotspots
Community Engagement
*Build positive relationships with residents, businesses, and community groups
*Provide advice on safety, crime prevention, and access to local services
Enforcement & Compliance
*Enforce relevant local authority powers, including PSPOs, littering, dog control, and environmental legislation
*Issue Fixed Penalty Notices in line with policy and procedures
*Support investigations into anti-social behaviour and environmental offences
Partnership Working
*Work collaboratively with police, housing providers, youth services, and other partners
*Support multi-agency operations and longer-term problem-solving initiatives
Incident Response & Reporting
*Respond to reports of anti-social behaviour and community safety concerns
*Accurately record incidents, statements, and reports using council systems
*Escalate safeguarding concerns in line with statutory procedures
Working Pattern*40 hours per week
*Flexible working required, including evenings and weekends
*Two rest days per week
Essential Requirements*Experience in community safety, enforcement, security, or a comparable public-facing role
*Confidence dealing with challenging situations professionally and calmly
*Understanding of anti-social behaviour and local authority enforcement powers (training provided where required)
*Strong communication and report-writing skills
*Physically able to undertake regular foot patrols
*Basic IT skills
*Enhanced DBS
*Right to work in the UK
