The Opportunity
We are recruiting on a confidential basis for an established logistics operation based in Birmingham. The business supports a high-volume e-commerce environment, handling a varied product range including food and non-food items.
Due to continued growth, there is an opportunity for a Quality & Lean Specialist to play a key role in driving quality standards, lean methodologies, and continuous improvement across the site. This role will suit a hands-on quality professional who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and enjoys working closely with operations teams to improve performance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
As Quality & Lean Specialist, you will be responsible for:
*Implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving quality management systems across the logistics operation
*Ensuring compliance with relevant quality standards, legislation, and food safety requirements within a warehouse environment
*Supporting internal, customer, and external audits, including preparation, corrective actions, and follow-up
*Driving lean and continuous improvement initiatives such as process optimisation, waste reduction, and standardisation
*Analysing operational performance data to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
*Developing, reviewing, and maintaining SOPs, work instructions, and quality documentation
*Supporting risk assessments, root cause analysis, and CAPA activity
*Training and coaching operational teams on quality standards, lean principles, and best practice
*Acting as a key contact for quality-related matters between operations, management, customers, and external stakeholders
*Supporting quality requirements across a diverse e-commerce product portfolio, including food and non-food items
The focus of the role may evolve in line with operational priorities and business growth.
About You
To be successful in this role, you are likely to have:
*A degree or vocational qualification in Quality, Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related discipline
*Proven experience in a quality and/or lean role within a logistics, warehousing, or supply chain environment
*Working knowledge of lean tools and methodologies (Lean, Kaizen, 5S, PDCA, Six Sigma fundamentals)
*Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards within logistics (HACCP knowledge is highly desirable)
*A structured, analytical, and hands-on approach to problem solving
*Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage cross-functionally at all levels
*Competency with MS Office and quality documentation systems
