Our partner Hello Oriental is a modern Asian food hall celebrating authentic regional flavours from across China and East Asia. Known for quality, craftsmanship, and cultural authenticity, we work with skilled chefs to bring traditional techniques into a contemporary dining environment.


They are opening a new site in Altrincham and are looking for a passionate and experienced Dumpling Chef or Dim Sum Chef to join our team and play a key role in launching this location.


The Role


We are seeking a Dumpling & Dim Sum Chef with hands-on experience in handmade dumplings like Shoa long bao’s. You will be responsible for preparing, wrapping, and producing dumplings to our established recipes and standards, using ingredients provided by Hello Oriental.


You will initially complete paid training at our *HQ site on Oxford Road, Manchester city centre, learning directly from an experienced Shanghai dim sum chef. Once training is completed and the Altrincham site is operational, your primary place of work will be Altrincham.


Training will be provided; however, we expect candidate to be fully up to speed by 2-3 weeks as you will be learning from someone who has 30 years of experience and ready to pass down a wealth of knowledge.


Key Responsibilities


* Hand-making dumplings to a consistently high standard
* Following Hello Oriental’s recipes, portioning, and ingredient specifications
* Maintaining cleanliness, food safety, and kitchen organisation at all times
* Working efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
* Collaborating with senior chefs and kitchen team members during service
* Supporting the opening and ongoing success of the Altrincham site


What We’re Looking For


* Experience with wrapping Dumplings, oriental Bao’s
* A strong understanding of dough handling, filling balance, and pleating technique
* Ability to work quickly while maintaining quality and consistency
* A positive attitude and willingness to learn
* We are open to less experienced candidates who show strong fundamentals and are quick learners
* Ability to communicate in English, Mandarin, or Cantonese
* Bilingual or multilingual candidates are strongly preferred*, but not essential
