Job Description:
Kenny Recruit are excited to be partnering with an independent publishing organisation to recruit a Temporary Accounts Assistant for its London-based team. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with the Financial Controller supporting the day to day running on the finance function. This is a temporary position whilst there is ongoing internal discussion due to Financial Controller returning from maternity leave. This role is guaranteed minimum of 3 months with potential to go permanent for the right candidate.
Location: West London
Contract: Full-time, Temporary role with potential to become permanent
Working Hours: Monday – Friday 9.30am – 5.30pm
Hybrid Working: 3 Day in the Office (Set days Tuesday and Thursday)

They are an independent publisher and literary magazine that supports new and emerging writing across fiction, memoir, reportage, and poetry. They offer a collaborative, creative, and intellectually engaging working environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Assistant will play a key role in maintaining accurate and efficient financial records, supporting core finance processes and providing administrative support. This role offers broad exposure across finance operations, royalties and rights administration within a highly regarded publishing organisation.
Key Responsibilities
*Posting approved and coded purchase invoices to the accounting system (QuickBooks)
*Monitoring the finance inbox and responding to supplier and internal queries
*Preparing and processing bi-monthly payment runs, including online banking and system posting
*Managing monthly credit card statements, receipt collection and expense posting
*Issuing sales invoices for book and magazine income, including sub-rights and advertising
*Credit control and follow-up of outstanding invoices
*Monthly review of purchase and sales ledgers
*Assisting with bank reconciliations
*Supporting twice-yearly royalty payments to authors
*Providing administrative support to the rights team, including contract processing, advance payments and sublicence record-keeping
*Assisting with audit preparation and liaising with auditors
*Supporting the development and improvement of finance systems and procedures
Skills and Experience Required
*Minimum two years’ bookkeeping experience (publishing or a related sector preferred)
*Good working knowledge of Excel
*Strong organisational and administrative skills
*Excellent attention to detail
*Confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills
*Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
*High level of accuracy and reliability under pressure
*Genuine interest in and alignment with the values of an independent literary organisation
