Trainee Management Accountant - Up to £26,000 plus study support - Whitstable
My client, a growing Fractional CFO and Finance Advisory business supporting a portfolio of ambitious start-ups, SMEs, and high-growth companies is looking to recruit a Trainee Management Accountant. You will work closely with the lead CFO, supporting multiple clients and gaining exposure across the full finance function, from day-to-day accounting through to management reporting and strategic insight. This is a development role designed for someone at the early stage of their accounting career who wants variety, responsibility, and a clear development pathway into a Management Accountant position.
Key responsibilities:
*Assist in the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow) and financial reports within agreed timescales.
*Contribute to the development and ongoing improvement of management accounts reporting packs.
*Support the creation and maintenance of CEO dashboards and KPI reporting.
*Support analysis of financial performance, variances, and trends to help generate insight for clients.
*Maintain purchase and sales ledgers across multiple clients.
*Process invoices, credit notes, and payments accurately and on time.
*Perform monthly accurate reconciliations: bank, debtor, creditor and control accounts.
*Assist with VAT returns and statutory reporting requirements.
*Support year-end processes and liaise with external accountants and auditors where required.
Key skills:
*AAT/ACCA/CIMA part qualified or equivalent
*Self-motivated, with a strong desire to learn and develop
*Flexible and adaptable, able to respond effectively to multiple priorities.
*Organised and detail-focused, with excellent time management skills.
*Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
*Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, Excel, or Google Sheets is desirable but not essential.
