Job Description:
Summary
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be working primarily one to one with your key student, you will be instrumental in supporting the emotional and educational development of your student. Your role focuses on fostering a positive learning environment through effective communication and behaviour management strategies. You will guide students in overcoming daily challenges. Your expertise in mentoring and trauma informed practice will enhance your ability to address diverse learning and behaviour needs, while relevant skills in mentoring will further enrich the educational experience for all of our students.
Duties
*Progress Monitoring: Observe, record, and report on student progress and well-being to teachers, parents, and SEN Coordinators (SENCos).
*Collaboration: Work alongside specialists like speech and language therapists or educational psychologists to implement recommended interventions.
*Keep up to date with safeguarding guidance and policies
*Assist your key student with communication using verbal and non-verbal methods
*Support your key student in accessing social and offsite enrichment activities
*Prepare and adapt learning materials
*Inform the DSL/Deputy DSL of safeguarding issues, especially ongoing enquiries into whether a child is at risk of harm and/or police investigations
*Communicate daily with parents/carers
*Act as a source of support for teaching staff
