Job Description:
Deputy Manager – Limehouse
Job Title: Deputy Manager
Department: Early Years
Pay: Up to £37’000+ (Dependant on Qualifications and Experience)
Area: Limehouse
Hours: 40 Hours per week
Summary:
Our client began as a local mothers’ group and has grown into a successful not-for-profit nursery and registered charity. They are uniquely run by a team of managers and a Board of Trustees made up of their own parents. This means every penny they make goes straight back into the setting and other children.
The nursery has been operating since 2019 and is built inside beautifully converted railway arches. The space is bright, spacious, and high spec, providing a lively environment where children truly thrive.
Responsibilities: Deputy Manager
Leadership & Operational Support
Management Support: Act as the Manager’s "right hand," overseeing daily operations and taking full responsibility for the setting in their absence.
Team Mentorship: Lead by example in the classrooms, mentoring staff to maintain high standards of early years practice and a positive team culture.
Staffing & Ratios: Assist with staff rotas and daily room deployments to ensure the nursery is always safe, compliant, and running smoothly.
Educational Quality & The "Outdoor" Ethos
Curriculum Oversight: Ensure the EYFS is delivered creatively across all three rooms, specifically integrating our "City Garden" and Forest School philosophy.
Tracking Progress: Monitor the quality of observations and assessments to ensure every child is making progress and that "learning journeys" are meaningful.
Inclusion: Work closely with the SENCO to support children with additional needs, ensuring Puddle Jumpers remains an inclusive environment.
Community & Charity Governance
Parent Partnerships: Foster the unique relationship between the nursery and its families. As a parent-led charity, you will be a key point of contact for the Board of Trustees.
Drop-In Coordination: Support the daily community Drop-In service, ensuring it remains a high-quality resource for local families.
Not-for-Profit Stewardship: Help manage resources and equipment thoughtfully, ensuring the charity’s funds are used effectively to benefit the children.
Safeguarding & Compliance
Safeguarding Lead: Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children is the absolute priority.
Ofsted Readiness: Maintain the setting to an "Ofsted Ready" standard at all times, ensuring all paperwork, health and safety checks, and policies are up to date.
