Job Description:
Newstaff Employment Services is recruiting for a skilled Estimator / Quantity Surveyor on behalf of our client, a successful and growing construction business.
This role is ideal for an experienced professional who is passionate about project cost management and wants to make a significant impact in delivering high-quality construction projects.
You will be responsible for evaluating project costs, preparing accurate estimates, and managing budgets throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure that each project is completed on time and within budget.
Your expertise will be essential in identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and contractual obligations.
Responsibilities *Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for a range of construction projects.
*Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and contractual documents.
*Conduct quantity take-offs and perform cost analysis for materials and labour.
*Collaborate with the project team to identify risks and develop strategies to mitigate potential issues.
*Negotiate terms with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
*Maintain accurate records and documentation related to project costs, estimates, and contract changes.
*Monitor project financial performance and report on budget variances.
*Stay informed about industry trends, materials, and regulations affecting project costs.
Requirements
*Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
*Proven experience as an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
*Strong understanding of construction processes, methods, and materials.
*Proficient in estimation and quantity surveying software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite is ideal.
*Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
*Strong negotiation and communication skills.
*Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
*Experience with contract law and construction regulations is a plus.

Salary: £45,000 pa to £60,000 pa (negotiable depending on experience)
