Passenger Assistant
*Hourly Rate: £12.60

*Job Type: Part-time (10 hours per week)
We are seeking a Passenger Assistant to join our team, providing a safe and efficient transport service for children with special educational needs between their homes and school. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and general welfare of pupils during their school commutes.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Escort children with special educational needs from home to school and vice versa using wheelchair-accessible vehicles, minibuses, or taxis.
*Assist the driver and parents in helping passengers to board and alight the vehicle.
*Secure children into special seats, ensuring they are correctly fastened and seated safely throughout the journey.
*Respond to the needs of the children while travelling, comforting those in distress.
*Communicate effectively with parents/carers, taking and passing on messages, money, and medicine as required.
*Assist children in the event of a fit, illness, accident, or challenging behaviour.
*Promote a positive image of the Transport Service, adhering to uniform and personal protective equipment guidelines.
*Learn the route and assist in directing the driver when necessary.
*Maintain effective communication with the Supervisor.
*Report all incidents and accidents to the supervisor in a timely manner.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*A compassionate and patient approach, with a focus on the safety and welfare of children.
*Ability to respond effectively to the needs of children with special educational needs.
*Good communication skills to interact with children, parents, and school staff.
*Willingness to undertake training as required.
