Overview
Our client is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician (Mechanical & Electrical) to join their Vehicle Solutions function at a high-volume reconditioning centre in Coalville. This role focuses on diagnostics and the removal of specialist adaptations from vehicles, ensuring they meet safety, performance, and quality standards before resale through dealer networks or auction channels.
Working across a wide range of manufacturers, this position requires strong expertise in both mechanical and electrical systems, including electric and hybrid vehicles, and plays a key role in preparing approximately 50,000 vehicles for sale each year.
Responsibilities
• Perform diagnostics on vehicles, identifying and resolving mechanical and electrical faults.
• Remove specialist adaptations fitted to adapted vehicles in line with required standards.
• Work on vehicles from multiple manufacturers, with a particular focus on electrical systems and components.
• Ensure vehicles meet safety, performance, and operational standards prior to sale.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot complex system issues.
• Support operational targets within a high-throughput vehicle preparation environment.
• Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and compliance at all times.
Requirements
• Proven experience as a vehicle technician with strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
• Minimum NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in automotive or a related discipline.
• Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical faults and system malfunctions.
• Knowledge of electric and hybrid vehicles.
• Understanding of vehicle safety systems, including ADAS and EV safety.
• Legally able to drive manual vehicles in the UK.
• Additional certification or training in automotive electrical systems is desirable but not essential.
