Job Description:
We’re looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and deliver high-quality reporting, controls, and insight. This is a hands-on role, suited to someone who enjoys being close to the detail while also providing commercial analysis and supporting project performance.
Key responsibilities*Own the day-to-day finance operations, ensuring a smooth-running finance function
*Full production of monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow) including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
*Maintain and improve financial controls, processes, and reporting accuracy
*Lead project accounting: budgeting, cost tracking, WIP (if applicable), project profitability, and variance analysis
*Deliver financial analysis and insights to support decision-making (performance trends, forecasting, margins, KPIs)
*Manage cashflow, working capital, and ensure timely supplier payments and customer receipts
*Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, including stakeholder input and challenge
*Liaise with external accountants/auditors and support year-end requirements
*Partner with key stakeholders across the business to improve financial understanding and performance
What we’re looking for*Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience
*Strong experience producing end-to-end management accounts
*Solid project accounting / job costing experience (or transferable exposure to project-based work)
*Confident with analysis, variance commentary, and turning numbers into actions
*Hands-on, organised, and comfortable working in an office-based environment
*Strong Excel skills; experience with finance systems/ERPs is a plus
