Asset Senior Maintenance Engineer

Join our team as an Asset Senior Maintenance Engineer and lead the management of Doncaster’s highway electrical assets. This role involves ensuring safe, compliant maintenance, testing, and replacement programmes, developing inspection procedures in line with legislation, and contributing to street-lighting policy. You will oversee subcontractors, verify and sign off on electrical testing, and maintain accurate asset records to support public safety.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Act as the point of contact for highway electrical matters, ensuring compliance with all legislation, standards, and council procedures.
*Manage and rectify unmetered energy extracts monthly, addressing inventory discrepancies.
*Devise and manage cyclic maintenance regimes to ensure all highway assets comply with electrical testing and structural condition surveys within statutory or policy guidelines.
*Record details of all completed work on the asset database, ensuring accuracy and retrievability of information.
*Manage budgets for electrical testing, condition surveys, and high mast lighting, ensuring best value delivery.
*Provide technical advice and produce detailed specifications for street lighting and associated equipment, liaising with procurement teams to ensure compliance.
*Represent and deputise for the CMS manager and Highways Electrical Duty holder at meetings and events.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Level 4 Electrical Engineering HNC or higher.
*CSCS Card and HESA G39 qualifications (210 & 214).
*SMSTS qualification and IET BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
*Strong understanding of unmetered supply connections and knowledge of ILP TR22 and GN22.
*Significant experience supervising electrical works and managing subcontractors.
*Proficient in using asset management systems and maintaining records.
*High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
*Project management experience.
*Full clean driving license.
