Finance Assistant
York
Up to £29,000
Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a well-established and highly regarded organisation in York, who are looking to recruit a Finance Assistant to join their friendly and supportive finance team.
This is a varied role offering excellent exposure across transactional finance, reporting and stakeholder support, ideal for someone with previous accounts experience who is looking to continue developing their career in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Perform reconcilia+tions, journal processing and provide reporting to key stakeholders
*Process intercompany transactions
*Monitor budget spends and provide reporting to budget holders
*Submit payments to the banking system via BACS files and one-off payments
*Provide purchase ledger cover during staff holidays and absences
*Maintain accurate invoicing records, including preparation and distribution of invoices and monthly payment plans
*Handle customer queries and disputes, proactively chasing overdue payments
*Support invoice approvals and respond to related queries
*Assist with data collection and production of management accounts
*Support shared finance inboxes and assist internal and external customers via phone
*Undertake any other duties as requested
Skills & Experience Required
*Previous experience in a finance or accounts role is essential
*Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts
*Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (functions and formulas)
*Knowledge of Sage accounting systems is desirable but not essential
*Confident and professional telephone manner
*High level of accuracy and attention to detail
*A strong team player with excellent communication skills
*Discretion and integrity when handling sensitive financial information
*Ability to work to tight deadlines
*AAT Level 3 or above is desirable
