A specialist SEND provision in Southampton is looking for a compassionate, resilient and dedicated SEND Mentor to join its warm and supportive team.
This provision works with children and young people who have faced significant challenges — including trauma, disrupted education and difficulties engaging in mainstream school environments. These students need far more than academic help… they need empathy, connection and consistency. ???
�? Who We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for someone who:
*???????? Has experience in care, mental health, youth work, social care or SEN settings
*?? Has personal or professional experience supporting individuals dealing with trauma or adversity
*?? Can build trusting, meaningful relationships with young people who may struggle to engage at first
*?? Offers warmth, patience and emotional safety
*????? Remains calm, confident and resilient when things become challenging
*?? Can commit to full-time, long-term work with the chance to become permanent
?? Your Role as a SEND Mentor
In this role, you will:
*?? Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring to support emotional and academic re-engagement
*?? Help students with emotional regulation, wellbeing and positive routines
*�? Be a positive role model who inspires confidence and trust
*?? Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and specialist therapists
*�? Contribute to a safe, nurturing and structured environment where every student feels valued
