Our client a well-established structural steel fabrication company based in Walkdenare looking to appoint an experienced Fabrication Workshop Supervisor to lead and manage a busy workshop operation.
This role is ideal for a hands-on Fabrication Supervisor / Workshop Manager / Senior Fabricator Welder with proven experience in structural steel, MIG & TIG welding, and workshop supervision.
Fabrication Workshop Supervisor Key Responsibilities
*Supervise daily workshop operations within a structural steel fabrication environment
*Lead, manage, and motivate a team of fabricators and welders
*Read and interpret engineering and structural steel drawings
*Receive manufacturing packages from Contracts Manager / Estimator
*Produce cutting lists and manage material ordering
*Plan workloads, allocate jobs, and monitor production progress
*Carry out hands-on MIG and TIG welding as required
*Ensure fabrication work meets exact specifications and quality standards
*Maintain accurate production records and work to ISO quality standards
*Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety regulations and PPE usage
*Maintain workshop housekeeping, equipment, and machinery
*Communicate production delays, quality issues, or safety concerns
*Support continuous improvement within the workshop
Fabrication Workshop Supervisor Skills & Experience Required
*Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Fabrication Supervisor / Workshop Supervisor
*Strong background in structural steel fabrication
*Proven experience with MIG and TIG welding
*Experience managing workshop teams in an engineering environment
*Strong knowledge of Health & Safety in fabrication workshops
*Experience working to tight deadlines and solving production issues
*Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
*Hands-on, practical, and detail-focused approach
