A brand-new management vacancy in West Yorkshire, ideal for a candidate with a leadership background within a GMP regulated environment.
A successful and well-known manufacturing business in Skipton is seeking a Production Shift Manager to oversee and improve the day-to-day operations of within one of their production shift patterns, working 5 days p/w onsite. The position is offering a starting salary of up to £50,000 p/a and a 9-day working fortnight, taking a leadership position on their late shift and reporting directly to the senior management team.

What you’ll do:
As Production Shift Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the success of your designated production shift by nurturing a dependable team environment focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost efficiency:
*Directly manage the shopfloor team by providing guidance, support, and encouragement through recognition schemes and regular welfare checks.
*Oversee team attendance including overtime approvals, holiday management, return to work interviews, and absence reviews to ensure smooth operations.
*Lead performance management processes such as appraisals, feedback sessions, and performance improvement plans when necessary.
*Own the skills matrix and coordinate training plans for the shift in close collaboration with improvement leads to maintain sufficient trained resources.
*Deliver engaging shift briefings and facilitate effective two-way communication between the shopfloor team and wider business functions.
*Drive employee engagement initiatives and contribute actively to the people plan aimed at creating a positive workplace culture.
*Manage grievance and disciplinary processes in accordance with HR policies while supporting recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
*Lead accident and incident investigations, ensuring closure of corrective actions while promoting strong housekeeping standards for safety compliance.
*Raise deviations for non-conformances, own minor deviations, contribute to major deviation investigations, and support CAPA actions for quality assurance.
*Monitor daily telemetry systems including response to alarms as required while ensuring adherence to production plans through process optimisation.
What you’ll bring:
To be considered for the Production Shift Manager position, you’ll need to demonstrate the ability to manage diverse and varied teams within a regulated GMP manufacturing environment, having previously operated in a Value Stream, Production or Manufacturing management-level role. You’ll bring not only technical expertise but also strong interpersonal skills that enable you to foster collaboration among diverse teams, managing all facets of shopfloor operations while driving employee engagement initiatives that build trust within the workforce. A familiarity with manual or semi-automated production processes will ensure you can maintain rigorous quality standards while optimising output, while experience with computerised systems such as Oracle is highly desirable to help deliver projects against budgetary goals. The company are especially keen to speak to candidates who have previously delivered Lean, CI or Quality Improvement initiatives from a leadership position that have delivered measurable successes and improvements.
*Proven experience supervising and leading production teams within a regulated GMP facility.
*Demonstrated ability to manage team performance including conducting appraisals, feedback sessions, absence reviews, and implementing performance improvement plans.
*Strong understanding of Health & Safety compliance requirements with practical experience in accident investigation and risk assessment updates.
*Experience managing low to medium volume production using manual or semi-automated processes while maintaining high standards of quality control.
*Excellent communication skills enabling effective collaboration both within the production team and cross-functionally across departments.
*Working knowledge of computerised systems such as Oracle for tracking consumables usage against budgetary constraints.
*Ability to conduct detailed data analysis for identifying areas of improvement related to equipment effectiveness or process optimisation initiatives.
*Practical experience applying continuous improvement methodologies within pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
*Proven track record supporting recruitment processes including onboarding new team members into an inclusive workplace culture.
*Capacity for handling grievance or disciplinary procedures sensitively in line with HR policies.
