SEND Teaching Assistant (KS1) – Camden (Near King’s Cross)
Primary School in Camden (Walking distance from King’s Cross Station)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only
Pay Rate: £90 - £110+ per day
Vocational Recruitment is seeking a resilient and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded Primary School in Camden. This role is specifically focused on supporting a pupil in Key Stage 1 with additional learning needs.
The mainstream primary school is well-located, just a short walk from King’s Cross station, offering excellent transport links across London.
The Role
You will be working 1:1 or within a small group setting to support a child with SEND. You will be responsible for adapting classroom activities to ensure the pupil can access the curriculum at their own pace, while managing any sensory or behavioural needs.
*Essential Experience: You must have a proven track record of supporting children with SEND (this can be in a school, specialist provision, or care setting).
*Autism Specialist: While we welcome experience in any area of SEND, candidates with specific experience supporting Autism (ASD) and an understanding of sensory triggers are highly preferred.
*Communication Tools: Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or Colourful Semantics is a major advantage.
*Soft Skills: You must be patient, proactive, and able to remain calm under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
*Implementing tailored learning plans (EHCP goals).
*Using visual timetables and sensory breaks to support focus and regulation.
*Providing regular feedback to the Class Teacher and SENDCo on the pupil’s progress.
*Fostering an inclusive environment where the pupil feels safe and supported.
