Interim Financial Controller (Fixed Term Contract)

Salary: circa £75,000


I am supporting a growing SME business to recruit an experienced Finance Controller on an interim basis to lead the finance function and support the wider business across all financial matters. This is a broad, hands-on role with responsibility for financial control, reporting, compliance and commercial insight, alongside managing and developing a well-established finance team.
*Take ownership of the finance team and ensure the delivery of accurate, timely and insightful financial information to support decision-making across the business.
*Leading and managing a finance team of 6, via 2 direct reports, covering AP, AR and financial control
*Overseeing the month-end and year-end close, ensuring accurate balance sheets, P&L and cashflow reporting
*Developing and enhancing commercial reporting to support sales and marketing performance
*Supporting the budgeting process and longer-term financial planning
*Maintaining strong internal controls and compliance, ensuring adherence to local and international standards
*Managing cashflow, liquidity and banking relationships
*Supporting the ongoing Sage X3 system development project
You will be a confident, commercially minded finance professional with:
*ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualification
*Proven team management experience (essential)
*Strong background in financial reporting, control and compliance
*Advanced Excel capability, including complex modelling, pivot tables and lookups/macros
*Experience within manufacturing, FMCG or stock-based environments, ideally within an SME
*Strong commercial experience, particularly supporting sales performance and decision-making
*A hands-on, proactive approach with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders
