Finance Manager - Hybrid Working - Career Progression Opportunities

We are partnering with a well-established, privately funded investment group to appoint a talented Finance Manager for their central finance function. This is a permanent opportunity, based full-time in Sunderland, offering the chance to join a collaborative finance team supporting a diverse portfolio of entrepreneurial UK businesses.

The Role
In this role, you will manage a team of two Management Accountants and an AP Manager, supporting the delivery of high-quality financial information and driving continuous improvement across the central finance function. You will report into a senior finance leader within the group.

Key Responsibilities will include:
*Financial Operations & Controls
*Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including accounts payable, daily workflow approvals, transaction posting, invoice processing, depreciation, prepayments, accruals, provisions and intercompany recharges.
*Ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations and compliance with internal controls.

*Management Accounting
*Own the monthly management accounts process, delivering accurate P&L and Balance Sheet reporting to strict deadlines.
*Provide clear insights and commentary to support business decision-making.

*Business Partnering
*Act as the primary contact for Finance Managers and Financial Controllers across the group.
*Lead monthly review meetings, address queries, and support ongoing performance conversations.
*Prepare reports and analysis for senior leadership.

*Audit & Year-End
*Support the Financial Controller in preparing interim and year-end audit deliverables.

*Process Leadership
*Serve as the Process Owner for P2P, expenses and credit card workflows.
*Drive continuous improvement, compliance and efficiency enhancements.

*Banking & Cash Management
*Oversee daily banking routines, approving payments for UK and international accounts.
*Maintain strong financial controls around cash and approvals.


The Person
*Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
*Strong management accounting experience
*Previous team leadership experience
*VAT knowledge
*Payroll/benefits and wage reconciliation experience
*Strong stakeholder communication skills
*Advanced Excel ability
*Proactive and process-improvement mindset
*Ability to manage competing deadlines with accuracy
