SMT Machine Operator
Location: Newbury
Salary: £27,000 – £32,000
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent 7:30AM-4:00PM
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised SMT Machine Operator to join a growing team in Newbury. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience within electronic assembly and a strong understanding of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes. You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining SMT production equipment while ensuring high-quality output and smooth workflow across the assembly line.
Key Responsibilities
SMT Production & Setup
*Feeder loading and preparation for production runs.
*PCB setup, including handling and loading for production line processes.
*Paste stencil setup and operation, including:
*Creating new programmes
*Stencil loading
*Existing programme setup
*Production processing
*Cleaning stencils and associated tools
Machine Operation
*SMT machine setup and operation, including:
*Programme creation
*Job setup
*Running production processes
*Stripping down machines post-production
*Returning components to kits in the correct order
Reflow & Quality Control
*Operating the reflow oven for assembled PCB processing.
*Ensuring high-quality standards are met throughout the assembly process.
*Following build instructions and maintaining accuracy in production documentation.
Requirements
Essential:
*Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar SMT or electronics assembly role.
*Strong understanding of PCB-level SMT component assembly.
*Basic knowledge of PCB technologies.
*Good knowledge of SMT assembly processes.
*Ability to read and follow work/build instructions.
*Clear and confident verbal communication skills.
*Good IT literacy, including machine control and programming software.
*Ability to learn new systems and software.
Preferred:
*Experience with IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies).
*Understanding of Moisture Sensitivity Levels (MSL).
