Job Title: Interim Assistant Accountant
Location: Leicester
Rate: £190 - £220 (Umbrella)
Duration: 6 months
Start: ASAP
About the Role:
An established organisation in Leicester is seeking an Interim Assistant Accountant to support its finance team during a busy period. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong core accounting skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a high-performing finance function.
You’ll play a key part in month-end close, reconciliations, and payments processing across multiple entities, while also helping to identify improvements in processes and controls.
Key Responsibilities:
*Support month-end close activities as the team works toward Last Calendar Day +3 deadlines
*Prepare and post journal entries
*Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy across key balance sheet areas
*Provide general accounting support throughout the close cycle
*Interpret and apply relevantEnterprise Standards, SOPs, and Process Maps
*Identify weaknesses in processes and recommend improvements
*Provide payments support, including: *Processing payments across 25 bank accounts and 7 legal entities
*Assisting with misdirected payments and other banking-related queries from HQ
To be considered you will:
*Be AAT Qualified, ACCA/CIMA Part Qualified, or Qualified by Experience
*Have proven experience in a similar role
*Have strong written and verbal communication
*Be confident working independently and taking ownership of tasks
*Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across the business
*Be an excellent problem solver with good attention to detail
*Be able to start at short notice
