Senior Associate - Business Development
Salary: £40,000 + benefits
Location: London - hybrid
The opportunity
This is a role for an experienced, intellectually curious business developer who wants to immerse themselves in the UK’s R&D and innovation ecosystem.
Our client works with some of the most exciting scale-up and technology-led businesses in the UK. Success in this role comes from insight, research and timing - not volume selling.
As a Senior Associate, you’ll own and develop a high-quality pipeline of R&D-rich businesses, understanding their journey, innovation strategy and commercial drivers long before a deal closes.
What you’ll be doing
*Building and managing a defined target list of 300-400 UK businesses
*Tracking trends across high-growth, unicorn and future-unicorn sectors
*Conducting thoughtful, multi-channel outreach (phone, email, events, social)
*Developing deep knowledge of target accounts and their innovation roadmap
*Delivering revenue against agreed annual targets
*Managing opportunities end-to-end through SalesLoft and MS Dynamics
*Writing and presenting tailored pitch documents
*Working closely with technical and delivery teams to shape opportunities
*Building strong working knowledge of R&D tax and Patent Box
About you
You’re likely to be:
*An experienced BD professional in professional services, advisory or consultancy
*Comfortable with complex, high-value sales cycles
*Curious, commercially intelligent and well-researched in your approach
*Confident opening doors through insight rather than pressure
*Resilient, patient and motivated by long-term success
Experience with accounting, tax or scale-up businesses is desirable but not essential - mindset and quality of approach matter most.
