Temporary Part-Time Caretaker – Job Description
Role: Temporary Caretaker
Hours: Part-time, 2–3 days per week (8am - 4:30pm)
Contract: Temporary (covering staff absence)
Location: Longfield DA3
Role PurposeTo support the day-to-day care, security, and maintenance of the school site while covering for the permanent caretaker during a period of absence.
Key Responsibilities*Open and secure the school buildings as required
*Carry out basic maintenance and minor repairs
*Ensure the site is safe, clean, and well maintained
*Set up rooms and spaces for school activities when needed
*Monitor site security and report any issues
*Liaise with staff regarding site-related needs
Requirements*Previous caretaking, maintenance, or site management experience (desirable)
*Ability to work independently and use initiative
*Physically able to carry out caretaking duties
*Reliable and punctual
*Own transport essential due to rural location
Safeguarding*Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
*Appointment subject to references and a DBS check
