Assistant Accountant Location: Leeds
Salary: £32,000 - £37,000
Contract: Permanent
Elevation Recruitment Group are working with an established organisation based in Leeds who are looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join their UK Finance team. This role will play a key part in the month-end close process, supporting the production of accurate management accounts and financial reporting.
The Role Working as part of a collaborative finance team, the Assistant Accountant will support core accounting processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the function.
Key responsibilities include:
* Assisting with the preparation of balance sheets and supporting schedules
* Ownership of specific month-end accruals and journal postings
* Accurate and timely processing of financial transactions
* Reconciliation of intercompany trading accounts
* Analysis of monthly financial information
* Supporting the year-end statutory audit and SOx audit
* Responding to ad-hoc finance requests and general administrative tasks
* Identifying opportunities for process improvement, automation, and simplification
* Adhering to SOx controls where applicable
About You This role would suit someone looking to develop their career within a fast-paced finance environment.
Key requirements:
* Previous experience in an accounting role (part-qualified preferred)
* Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to work across all levels of the business
* Proactive communicator who flags risks, delays, and issues early
* Strong Excel skills and proficiency across MS Office
* Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
* Highly organised with the ability to manage and prioritise workloads effectively
