Senior Finance Officer – Business Partnering

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid)

A client of Trinity House Group is seeking a Senior Finance Officer to join its Business Partnering team.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, this role will provide high-quality financial support to Schools, Professional Service Departments, and projects, enabling senior stakeholders to make well-informed operational and strategic decisions.

The position operates on a hybrid working model, with three days per week on-site and two days working from home. Interviews will be conducted in person.
Key Responsibilities *Provide finance and accountancy support to departments and project teams
*Advise budget holders and senior managers on financial management, forecasting, and variance analysis
*Produce accurate and timely management information and financial reports
*Lead on audits, maintain financial integrity, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
*Support payroll processes, statutory returns, and project costing activities
*Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and transparency
*Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on funding, reporting, and compliance
Essential Criteria *Part-qualified accountant (CCAB-recognised) or equivalent experience
*Proven experience providing financial support to senior managers
*Strong Excel and general IT skills, with experience using financial systems
*Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
*Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines with a high level of accuracy
Desirable *Experience working in a higher education finance environment, including costing or resource allocation
*Knowledge of external grant funding processes
