Job Description:
On an exclusive basis, greenwellgleeson are recruiting for a No.1 Financial Controller to work with a rapidly growing business in the Wolverhampton area, which will grow to Finance Director.
Due to the forecasted growth of the business, significant change is taking place, with a new dynamic MD at the forefront, ready to take the business on a journey. You’ll report directly into this position and be responsible for managing and revamping the finance function.
Duties will include:
* Lead day-to-day finance operations, including management accounts, reporting, statutory compliance, and strong financial controls.
* Own weekly cashflow forecasting and variance analysis, with authority to challenge spend, stock build, and payment timing.
* Manage month-end and year-end close, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
* Own budgeting and forecasting cycles, ensuring robust, data-driven assumptions aligned to business strategy.
* Lead business planning, scenario modelling, and ROI evaluation for key initiatives, capex, and new opportunities.
* Monitor performance against financial and strategic targets, highlighting risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
* Partner with the leadership team to provide actionable insights that support commercial decision-making.
* Develop models, dashboards, and analysis to support pricing, margin improvement, and investment decisions.
* Improve financial systems, reporting tools, and processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and business visibility.
Skills, Requirements, Qualifications
* Qualified ACA/ ACCA/ ACMA
* Experience working with rapidly growing businesses
* Strong technical as well as commercial individual
* Ideally experience in working on acquisitions, dealing with investors/ funders
* Ambitious individual, looking to progress to FD
