Temporary School Caretaker – Job Description
Role: Temporary Caretaker
Contract: Temporary
Location: Blackburn BB1
Working Hours*Monday:
*6:30am – 10:30am
*2:30pm – 6:30pm
*(Split shift – flexibility to combine into a full day where required)
*Tuesday to Friday:
*6:30am – 10:30am
*(4 hours per day)
Role PurposeTo support the safe operation, security, and maintenance of the school site during a temporary period of cover.
Key Responsibilities*Opening and securing school buildings
*Carrying out basic maintenance and minor repairs
*Ensuring the site is safe, clean, and well presented
*Setting up rooms and equipment for school activities
*Monitoring site security and reporting any issues
*Supporting staff with site-related requests
Requirements*Previous caretaking or site maintenance experience (desirable)
*Ability to work independently and use initiative
*Physically fit and able to carry out caretaking duties
*Reliable, punctual, and flexible
*Willingness to adapt hours when required
Safeguarding*Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
*Appointment subject to references and an enhanced DBS check
