Job Description:
We’re supporting a well-established organisation with a geographically spread portfolio of residential and commercial assets, who are looking to strengthen their finance function with the addition of an experienced Credit Controller.
This role will suit someone comfortable operating autonomously, managing complex accounts, and working closely with both finance leadership and legal colleagues to minimise financial exposure.
Key responsibilities include:*Reviewing aged debt reports with senior finance stakeholders, identifying priority accounts, emerging risks, and areas requiring intervention
*Accurately posting and allocating incoming payments within the finance system and maintaining clean, up-to-date account records
*Liaising with senior finance colleagues to resolve ledger queries and account-related discrepancies
*Managing accounts impacted by estates or deceased customers, including correspondence with solicitors or executors and follow-up of outstanding balances
*Proactively contacting customers with overdue accounts once internal credit control steps have been exhausted
*Negotiating, agreeing, and monitoring structured repayment arrangements to ensure commitments are met
*Applying late payment fees and interest charges in line with contractual terms where applicable
*Supporting reconciliation activity between operational records and the core finance system, investigating and resolving variances
*Preparing cases for escalation and referring appropriate matters to the legal function in a timely manner
*Assisting with the preparation and submission of court claims via online legal platforms, ensuring all financial and narrative information is accurate
*Processing approved account write-offs and ensuring all relevant systems are updated accordingly
*Taking ownership of debt recovery across a broad and varied customer base spanning multiple property types
*Identifying opportunities to improve credit control processes, controls, and overall efficiency
*Providing ad-hoc support to the wider finance team as required
