Job Description:
Deputy Education Manager Academics are looking for an experienced and motivated Deputy Education Manager (English) to support the leadership and delivery of high-quality academic provision within a prison education setting.
This role is ideal for a strong educational leader with a passion for English and a commitment to transforming lives through learning.
Working closely with the Education Manager, you will help oversee curriculum quality, staff performance, and learner outcomes, with a particular focus on English and functional/academic literacy provision.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Education Manager in the day-to-day leadership of the education department
* Lead on the English curriculum, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment
* Monitor learner progress, achievement, and quality of outcomes in English
* Coach, mentor, and support teaching staff to raise standards and share best practice
* Contribute to quality assurance processes, including lesson observations, audits, and action planning
* Support curriculum development aligned with Ofsted, awarding body, and prison service requirements
Requirements * Happy to comply with a Prison Clearance
* Strong subject specialism in English (GCSE, Functional Skills, or equivalent)
* Experience teaching English in FE, adult education, or secure environments
* Proven experience in a leadership or management role (or readiness to step into one)
* Strong understanding of quality frameworks, curriculum design, and performance management
* Ability to work effectively within the secure and regulated prison environment
