Credit Controller – 12 Month Contract
York area
Up to £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hybrid working – up to 2 days from home
Do you have previous credit control experience, or have you worked in a high-volume, fast-paced, customer-focused role and are now looking to move into credit control?
If you’re confident speaking with customers, enjoy problem-solving, and thrive in a busy environment where no two days are the same, this could be a great next step.
This established organisation is looking to add a Credit Controller to its friendly and supportive finance team on a 12-month contract. The business is continuing to evolve, making this a great opportunity to join during a period of change, learn new skills, and gain solid experience within a structured credit function.
You’ll work closely with an experienced Credit Control Manager and team who are approachable, supportive, and happy to train someone with the right attitude and transferable experience.
What’s in it for you:
*Up to £30,000 per annum depending on experience
*12-month fixed term contract
*Hybrid working with up to 3 days from home
*33 days holiday including bank holidays
*Free onsite parking
*Supportive team environment with training and guidance
*Easily commutable from York, Leeds, Harrogate and surrounding areas
Day-to-day duties will include:
*Proactively chasing overdue payments across a varied customer base
*Speaking with customers by phone and email to resolve queries and agree payment solutions
*Building positive working relationships to reduce risk and improve cash collection
*Allocating customer payments and maintaining accurate records on internal systems
*Producing invoices, statements, and supporting documentation
*Managing a busy inbox and handling inbound credit control queries
*Investigating and resolving unallocated cash
*Supporting daily bank reconciliations and cash allocation
*Assisting with aged debt reporting and commentary
*Reviewing accounts, credit limits, and supporting held orders
*Working closely with internal teams to resolve issues efficiently
What we’re looking for:
*Previous experience in credit control or a high-volume customer service or call-handling role
*Available on a short notice period and happy to commit to a 12 month contract role
*Someone confident communicating with customers in a professional and calm manner
*Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
*High attention to detail and good basic Excel skills
*A proactive, solutions-focused approach to work
*Someone who enjoys being part of a team in a busy, fast-moving environment
This role would suit someone who enjoys customer interaction, likes structure, and wants to build or develop a career in credit control within a supportive and well-run finance team.
