Job Description:
Your new company
Join a highly respected, innovation-driven manufacturing organisation undergoing an exciting period of growth and transformation. With a strong reputation for engineering excellence and a commitment to smarter, more sustainable ways of working, this is a business that genuinely invests in its people, its processes, and its future. As part of a forward-thinking procurement function, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how the organisation sources critical goods and services that directly support world-class production.
Your new role
* As the Category Lead (direct or indirect), you will take strategic ownership of key purchasing categories and develop sourcing strategies that create long-term value across cost, quality, sustainability, and innovation.
* You’ll lead supplier negotiations, manage high-impact contracts, and cultivate strong supplier relationships to secure continuity of supply in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Working closely with cross-functional teams, including New Product Development and Purchasing, you’ll drive data-led decision-making, support demand planning, manage risk, and ensure master data accuracy.
* Support the Category Buyers on a range of sourcing activites through guidance and mentorship
What you’ll need to succeed
* 5+ years’ experience in Category Management, ideally within manufacturing or engineering. There are roles open in both direct and indirect, so please apply if you have a solid foundation in either.
* Strong expertise in procurement, sourcing, negotiations, and supplier management.
* A relevant Business or Engineering qualification, with CIPS advantageous.
* Confidence using ERP/S2P systems and core Microsoft tools.
* A commercially astute, analytical, and outcome-focused mindset.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive positive change.
What you’ll get in return
* A competitive salary range depending on experience
* A 4.5-day working week, hybrid working on offer.
* Local employee discounts.
* On-site parking.
* Access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
* Ongoing opportunities for professional development as the procurement function continues to evolve.
