Job Description:
We are working with a well-established charitable organisation seeking a Police Officer to support its engagement with Parliament and the political process.
Reporting to the Head of Parliamentary Affairs, this role plays a key part in ensuring policy issues are effectively tracked, progressed, and communicated through Parliament. The successful candidate will support the organisation’s ability to understand, respond to, and influence parliamentary activity, while working collaboratively across internal teams.

The Role


The Police Officer will provide research, drafting, and coordination support across parliamentary and policy-related activity. The role involves close liaison with senior stakeholders and colleagues across the organisation, ensuring accurate, timely, and well-informed engagement with MPs and parliamentary bodies.


Key Responsibilities
*Research parliamentary business, procedure, and activity to brief internal stakeholders
*Draft responses to written and oral parliamentary questions on behalf of senior leadership
*Prepare responses to correspondence addressed to senior leaders
*Draft briefing notes for meetings, events, and parliamentary engagements
*Liaise with internal teams to gather information and coordinate responses
*Attend parliamentary and organisational events as required
*Maintain and update records, spreadsheets, and internal tracking documents
*Update website content when required
*Build and maintain strong working relationships across departments to support policy and parliamentary work


Essential Skills & Experience
*Experience drafting briefing papers, bulletins, or clear written communications
*Knowledge of parliamentary processes and procedures
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Strong ICT skills, including document and information management
*Ability to draft briefings, speeches, and accurately take notes
*Strong organisational and time management skills, including diary coordination
*High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information
*Collaborative approach with the ability to work across teams and structures
Desirable Skills & Experience
*Experience working with or around Parliament, political parties, think tanks, or lobbying organisations
*Experience organising events such as receptions, seminars, or meetings
*Knowledge or experience of the charity, voluntary, or faith sectors
*Spreadsheet management skills
*Ability to identify policy issues of relevance and assess their potential impact
