Buyer – Construction (Roofing & Cladding)
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Contract Type: 6-month Fixed Term Contract (with strong potential to become permanent)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Buyer with a background in construction procurement, ideally within roofing and cladding, to join our client’s team in Newcastle. This is an initial fixed term contract role with a genuine opportunity to move into a permanent position.
You will play a key role in sourcing materials, negotiating pricing, and ensuring timely supply to support ongoing construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
*Procure roofing, cladding, steelwork, insulation, fixings, and related construction materials.
*Build and maintain effective supplier relationships.
*Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times to achieve best value.
*Raise purchase orders and manage procurement schedules.
*Monitor supplier performance, quality, and compliance.
*Manage stock levels and coordinate delivery logistics.
*Support cost-control, reporting, and procurement planning.
*Ensure all materials meet project specifications and technical standards.
Skills & Experience Required
*Proven experience as a Buyer in the construction industry (roofing, cladding, or similar strongly preferred).
*Strong knowledge of construction materials and supply chains.
*Excellent negotiation and commercial awareness.
*Ability to prioritise and manage multiple procurement tasks.
*Confident using procurement systems and Microsoft Office (Excel essential).
*Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
*Organised, proactive, and detail-focused.
