Job Description:
We’re working with a strategy consulting firm that is a market leader in intelligence to the banking sector. Their clients include Corporate and Investment Banks, Asset Managers, Wealth Managers and Fintechs. They provide unique, high-value, actionable information to help clients improve their business performance. This covers anything from market share, revenue performance, client relationship share and quality, operational excellence, return on equity, brand perception, behavioral drivers, and industry evolution.We started working with this firm as a start up in 2010. Now they have over 200 employees and are a bright and engaging group of mainly ex-bankers who enjoy solving problems in a collaborative office; we’ve hired some of the best and brightest IBD, debt financing, DCM, sales and trading staff from the top 6 world banks.
Following significant client demand, the business is growing its Research team with an additional hire in the Corporate Banking/DCM/Loans space. This role has the following three primary components:
1. Being the subject matter expert for Competitor IBD (M&A, ECM, DCM) and Lending; focus more on DCM side
2. Alongside client-allocated Relationship teams, provide research and product expertise support for banks
3. Support the development and growth of the IBD (M&A, ECM, DCM) and Lending platforms.
1. Subject Matter Expert
• Develop knowledge to enable you to be a subject matter expert across the IBD and Lending landscape
• Analyse, interpret and deliver IBD & Lending data to present key messages to senior clients – focus on ensuring maximum impact of messaging and actionability
• Contribute to the understanding of the ongoing evolution of IBD & Lending activity
2. IBD (M&A, ECM, DCM) Delivery
• With the Relationship Management teams, deliver the IBD & Lending products with the annual delivery schedules, attending delivery meetings in person or via VC/call
• Prepare analytics ready to present to clients in line with contractual remit and timeframes
• Work closely with the Analytics centre in Mumbai on execution of project and deliveries
3. Content and Analytics development
• As part of the global Research team, lead the analysis to develop the IBD & Lending bank performance model
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
*Keen interest in CIB content – IBD and Lending content knowledge is essential.
*Must have knowledge or experience of Corporate and Investment Banking markets: trends, Financial Services sector, specific competitors and their strengths
*Preferred backgrounds where relevant experience is likely to have been gained: Banks’ Client Management teams; coverage or broad IBD-related product teams, Banks’ Client Strategy teams/Business Management function within banks, FS practice of a Consulting firm, Product Manager of a benchmarking firm
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills and aptitude, and an ability to work with significant amounts of data, both numerical and qualitative.
• Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills allowing immediate individual impact within client; the ability to build rapport easily and to converse confidently and articulately. Fluency in spoken English is essential; Excellent qualitative skills and the ability to prepare well-edited, well presented reports and market commentary.
• Candidates must have high intellect demonstrated by a strong academic background – this will typically be demonstrated by a strong undergraduate degree; in the absence of this, demonstration of compelling alternative qualification or experience.
