Job Description:
We’re partnering with an early-stage, private equity-backed business preparing to complete its second round of funding. Highly acquisitive and ambitious, the business has a clear growth strategy centred on M&A-led scale, and is now ready to appoint a full-time Finance Director to partner the CEO and help lead the transition from start-up to scale-up.
The Role
Working directly with the CEO, this is a broad, hands-on FD role with real influence across strategy, growth and execution.
You will build a finance and reporting function that is fit for scale, capable of supporting rapid acquisition activity and future fundraising.
Key responsibilities include:
*Acting as the CEO’s primary financial partner, providing strategic insight, challenge and guidance
*Designing and implementing a robust finance and reporting structure to support rapid growth
*Successfully integrating acquired businesses, improving visibility, control and performance
*Partnering closely with the M&A team, identifying opportunities to improve EBIT post-acquisition
*Leveraging modern technology and AI to streamline operational finance and reporting processes
*Building and leading a finance team capable of scaling with the business
*Acting as an externally facing finance leader, supporting future fundraising and managing relationships with PE investors and stakeholders
About You
You are a fully qualified finance leader with strong post-qualification experience and the technical capability to build robust processes that scale.
You will bring:
*Experience operating in a start-up or early-stage environment, and a genuine appetite for pace and ambiguity
*Exposure to M&A transactions, ideally in a buy-and-build setting
*Strong technical grounding with the ability to design controls, reporting and governance fit for growth
*A clear interest in using technology and AI to drive efficiency and insight
*An agile, solutions-driven mindset with the confidence to challenge and influence at board level
*The credibility and communication skills to work with PE investors and external stakeholders
Why Join?
*PE-backed business at a pivotal point in its growth journey
*Direct partnership with an ambitious, commercially focused CEO
*Significant influence over strategy, M&A and future fundraising
*Opportunity to build a finance function from first principles
*Hybrid working with a Birmingham base
If you’re excited by the idea of joining a business early, shaping how it scales, and playing a central role in an acquisitive growth story, this is a standout FD opportunity.
