Job Description:
Elevation Recruitment Group is recruiting a skilled and proactive Metrology Engineer to support a precision engineering business in Sheffield through advanced measurement, inspection, and 3D scanning techniques. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring dimensional accuracy, process capability, and product quality across fabrication and machining activities.
Key Responsibilities *Perform dimensional inspection and analysis of components using 3D scanning systems (Creaform preferred) and associated software packages.
*Develop and manage 3D scanning programs and workflows for inspection, reverse engineering, and process validation.
*Interpret complex engineering drawings, with particular emphasis on tolerances and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
*Provide technical support to fabrication and machining teams to resolve dimensional or quality-related issues.
*Generate detailed inspection reports and communicate results effectively to engineering, quality, and production teams.
*Support continuous improvement initiatives related to measurement accuracy, process control, and product conformance.
*Assist in calibration, maintenance, and verification of measurement equipment.
*Contribute to problem-solving and root cause analysis for nonconformities and quality issues.
*Work confidently and collaboratively within a busy "shop floor" environment, engaging with operators, engineers, and team leaders.
Required Skills & Experience *Proven experience with 3D scanning systems, ideally Creaform, and associated software (e.g., VXelements, PolyWorks, Geomagic).
*Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, with excellent understanding of GD&T and dimensional tolerancing.
*Background in fabrication and machining engineering, with practical understanding of manufacturing processes and constraints.
*Experience within a quality or metrology function, including use of conventional and digital inspection tools.
*Excellent communication skills and confidence working closely with production teams on the shop floor.
*Methodical and analytical approach with strong problem-solving abilities
