Role Summary
The Managing Director will provide strategic, operational, and commercial leadership to the UK business. This is a highly visible and engaging position, requiring full immersion in all aspects of the operation, from supply chain and logistics to commercial partnerships and team development. You will be accountable for delivering sustainable growth, profitability, and operational excellence in line with group objectives.
This is not a detached leadership role; it demands a proactive, front-line approach, empowering teams while driving performance and fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture.
Key Responsibilities
*Strategic & Commercial Leadership - Develop and execute the UK business strategy, aligning with global growth objectives.
*Identify and capitalise on new market opportunities while strengthening existing segments.
*Drive innovation across service offerings, logistics, and customer experience.
*Hold full P&L accountability, delivering on revenue, margin, and growth targets.
*Operational Excellence - Oversee end-to-end operations including warehousing, logistics, and customer support.
*Optimise supply chain performance and multi-channel distribution efficiency.
*Implement process improvements and technology solutions to enhance productivity.
*Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and corporate governance standards.
*Stakeholder & Relationship Management - Act as the primary liaison for group leadership and key stakeholders.
*Maintain and develop strategic partnerships with suppliers and distributors.
*Represent the company in industry forums, commercial negotiations, and partner meetings.
*People & Culture - Lead, mentor, and develop the senior leadership team and wider talent pipeline.
*Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
*Support succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
Essential Skills & Experience
*Proven senior leadership experience within distribution, wholesale, logistics, or related sectors.
*Strong commercial acumen with a track record of managing P&L, pricing strategies, and margin optimisation.
*Expertise in supply chain management, warehousing, and multi-channel distribution operations.
*Demonstrated success in driving growth, operational transformation, and change initiatives.
*Exceptional relationship management and negotiation skills, with experience managing key partnerships.
*Ability to operate strategically while maintaining a hands-on, engaged leadership style.
*Resilient and adaptable, capable of thriving in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
*Degree educated in Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline; an MBA or equivalent is advantageous.
*Highly driven, ambitious, and results-focused.
