Job Description:
Accounts - Associate Director
Salary: £90,000 - £100,000The Role As an Associate Director, you will be responsible for both strategic leadership and operational delivery across your client portfolio and teams. You will transition from senior manager to portfolio owner, taking accountability for financial performance, client relationships, people development, and service excellence.
You will help translate firm-wide strategy into practical delivery, drive innovation, and ensure the highest technical and ethical standards are maintained.
Key Responsibilities Technical & Client Leadership
* Ensure all work meets high technical standards and complies with evolving regulations

* Act as a senior technical reference point for complex accounting and advisory matters

* Lead key client relationships, including high-level discussions and negotiations

* Maintain a consistent, high-quality client experience aligned with firm values

Commercial & Strategic Management
* Manage and grow client portfolios, optimising pricing, resourcing, and service delivery

* Use data and financial insights to inform decisions and improve profitability

* Work closely with finance and senior leadership on budgets and forecasts

* Identify new business opportunities and support conversion into fee income

Operational Excellence
* Drive continuous improvement in processes, systems, and ways of working

* Resolve recurring issues and streamline delivery to improve efficiency

* Delegate effectively, empowering managers while retaining overall accountability

People Leadership
* Lead, coach, and develop managers and teams to deliver high performance

* Communicate strategic objectives clearly and inspire engagement

* Play an active role in recruitment, succession planning, and talent development

* Act as a visible leader who promotes ethical behaviour, integrity, and accountability

About You Experience
* Significant experience in Accounts & Business Services within a professional services firm

* Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements and oversee several teams

* Strong background in mentoring, training, and performance management

* Demonstrable experience within the property sector

Skills
* Strong technical expertise in accounting and financial reporting

* Confident, collaborative leadership style with the ability to motivate teams

* Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex matters clearly

* Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with sound risk awareness

* Ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications
* ACA / ACCA (or equivalent) qualified
