Job Description:
Robert Half is working in partnership with a highly successful and growing Northwest engineering business to appoint an exceptional Finance Director.
Our client is a well-established organisation with a strong market presence, a diverse customer base and ambitious plans for further expansion. As part of their continued development, they are now seeking a commercially focused Finance Director to join their executive leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping the next stage of their growth.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Finance Director will have full responsibility for the financial strategy and performance of the business. This is a broad and influential role requiring a strategic thinker who can also operate effectively at an operational level within a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Developing and delivering the financial strategy in line with business objectives
* Providing commercial insight and strategic guidance to the Board
* Leading budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning
* Overseeing management reporting, statutory accounts and compliance
* Driving financial performance, margin improvement and cost control
* Managing cash flow, working capital and capital expenditure
* Strengthening financial controls, systems and processes
* Providing commercial support to pricing, bids and major contracts
* Managing relationships with banks, auditors and external stakeholders
* Leading, mentoring and developing the finance team
* Supporting strategic projects including investment appraisal and acquisitions
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with significant senior finance leadership experience, ideally gained within an engineering, manufacturing or technical services environment. Strong commercial acumen, excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at Board level are essential.
