Job Description:
School Finance Officer (6-Month Secondment Cover) Enhanced DBS Required
Are you an experienced School Finance professional looking to step into a dynamic role across three prestigious City of London school sites? This 6-month secondment offers the perfect opportunity to bring your financial expertise to a well-established education group while working in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment
From £21 per hour | Hybrid (Group of Schools in London)
Enhanced DBS required
As a School Finance Officer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining smooth financial operations, supporting the Finance Manager, and ensuring compliance across the School’s financial systems. You’ll work closely with staff, parents, and senior leaders — making this a varied and rewarding position with real impact.
This role begins onsite full-time for 1–2 weeks for induction, followed by a hybrid pattern of 3 days per week onsite, depending on space and activity across the three school locations.
We’re looking for someone with strong transactional finance experience, confident in the P2P process, and ideally with prior exposure to school or education finance. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, communicate well with parents, and can support key finance functions like month-end, year-end, and GL reconciliations — this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your skills.
You will be responsible for:
*Administering fees, deposits, scholarships, bursaries and prizes
*Producing invoices, managing direct debit collections, and reconciliations
*Supporting credit control and following up on outstanding fee cases
*Managing transactions across budgets, the Imprest Account, Creditors and departmental accounts
*Administering and reconciling accounts for overseas school trips
*Handling and processing cash, cheques and procurement cards securely
*Assisting with financial and internal audits
*Providing financial information to Heads of Department, SMT and parents
*Supporting purchasing card processes
*Maintaining procedural guides and helping develop new processes
*Supervising finance apprentices where applicable
*Supporting the implementation of policy or legislative changes
*Responding to finance-related queries from stakeholders
*Carrying out other finance duties as required
If you are proactive, detail-driven, and ready to take on a varied finance role within a respected education setting, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply today to join the team and support the continued excellence of the group of schools in London.
